Mark Myers, LCSW, CADC recently published his second publication, Falling Trees, Color Blind Scientists, and Addiction: A complete guide to addiction for substance abusers and their families. His first was Exercise Addiction and Steroid Abuse (Hazelden Publications). He is the owner and a therapist for Myers Counseling Group. In addition, Mark is an adjunct faculty member at Aurora University School of Social Work, and Waubonsee Community College in Aurora, IL. Mark has his Master of Social Work degree from the Loyola University School of Social Work and has been practicing in the field of mental health and substance abuse for over 30 years. Mark is both a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor.
Mark provides individual, group, couple and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults using a cognitive behavioral framework. He serves his community with his expertise in working with clients who experience substance abuse, anger management difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, school problems, behavioral difficulties, parenting issues, and couple concerns. His knowledge and skills work in tandem equipping clients with the tools they need to improve their relationships, address their mental health concerns, and change behaviors.
Mark lives in Illinois with his wife and partner of nearly 25 years, Janet Myers, LCSW, PEL and their three children.
Janet Myers, LCSW, PEL co-authored the book Falling, Tree, Color Blind Scientists, and Addiction: A complete guide to addiction for substance abusers and their families. This is her first publication. Janet is a school social worker and partner at Myers Counseling Group. She also graduated from Loyola University of Chicago School of Social Work and has been practicing in the mental health field for 27 years in a variety of settings including residential treatment, therapeutic day school, intensive outpatient programming, schools, and private practice. Janet also provide clinical supervision and consultation.
Janet works with children ages three to twelve, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her focus is on helping individuals, couples, and families develop the skills and resources to manage and overcome a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, autism, attention, behavioral concerns, parenting challenges, couple issues, and school difficulties. Janet resides in Illinois with Mark Myers, LCSW, CADC, her partner and is mother to three college age boys.
